Flat Foot, Fierce Spirit: The Story of Mama Evie

Mama Evie’s journey is one of resilience, love, and happy endings for all!

In March, an All4Paws Rescue Partner, Palmetto Paws Animal Rescue, had been contacted by the landlord of a family requesting that they take a litter of pups as well as older pups from a prior litter. The landlord was requesting help, but they opted not to help with the financial burden or transport.

Evie and two separate litters from her were turned in with the pretense that they were going to fix Evie and return her to the owner.

All4Paws was contacted and asked if we could take them all, and we said YES! Palmetto Paws transferred the litter of 5 week old pups, the two pups from another litter and mama Evie to All4Paws.

Evie’s previous litters had endured heartbreaking conditions.

🔹 The 8 week old pups were in need of some TLC and immediately headed to a foster home.

🔹 The older litter, consisting of two puppies—Trixie and Pixie—had spent their entire lives, all eight months, tethered to a tree.

🔹 Evie was fixed with the intent of returning her to her owner, but due to the condition of her foot, we were hoping that we could instead find her a forever home. Her flattened foot—most likely the result of being run over and left untreated—was a heartbreaking sign of past neglect.

Thankfully, All4Paws was able to keep Evie! Her medical journey began with x-rays and treatment at a veterinary hospital, funded by the All4Paws Compassion Fund. After careful evaluation, it was determined that her foot was not causing her pain, and leaving it as-is was the best course of action.

Thanks to incredible compassion and dedication, the cycle of suffering for Evie and her pups has finally come to an end. All have been spayed or neutered and have found loving homes, including Mama Evie herself. No more endless litters. No more tethered outside. Just happy, healthy lives for these sweet souls.

Together with you all, we can give these animals the second chance they deserve. Though rescue dogs may come from challenging pasts, they embody love, resilience, and pure happiness. Welcoming one into your life doesn’t just change theirs—it transforms yours, too. 💛
