Why Does Te Volunteer?

When I retired a few years ago, I felt like I had plenty of time to finally get more exercise and do fun things.   I have always loved dogs and I have a very special 14 year old dog of my own. I heard about All4paws and all the great work they do with cats and dogs and hoped they would just let me spend time with the dogs and they welcomed me with open arms.

I prefer to spend my time walking and giving loving quality time to the dogs that have been there a long time and for various reasons have been overlooked.  You look in their eyes and you see the love they are so willing to share! I wish they could tell me their stories. I just want them to feel special even if just for a short time, and to know human love until their fur-ever family finds them and takes them home. People always say they can’t walk the dogs because they would want to bring them all home.  I cannot bring them home as my own dog prefers to be the only dog in our house. But I can try to ensure that each of those sweet creatures feels the kind of love they deserve while waiting patiently for someone to bring them their forever Home. And yes, I cry tears of joy everytime one gets adopted, but I know I have made a difference for that dog and it makes me feel wonderful.
